I don’t think they didn’t talk because they are Black. There are a lot of people of various races who would not have chosen to share. I personally think they needed someone to talk to. Mr. Lawrence missed his mother so much he couldn’t talk about it. That’s trauma. Not just being Black. Henrietta Lacks suffered a lot

Thank you for sharing your story. It’s very brave and so important that people hear it. We have to stop the victim-shaming. Maya Angelou made a great contribution in that area and I am so happy that she inspired you to thrive in spite of this egregious violation. Thank you again for sharing your story.
