Maiysha Kai is former managing editor of The Glow Up and host of The Root Presents: It's Lit!, and your average Grammy-nominated goddess next door. May I borrow some sugar?

I have read that she sees herself as “half black and half white.” I normally say the same if I am asked, although society basically determines that I’m “Black,” and my white side is just ignored because I’m dark enough to be seen as Black (My other response is, “Ask the cops what color I am”).

By your logic then, she isn’t white either.

That would be true if everyone had a Black mother, but since it’s not, what the fuck are you talking about?

So why was Archie the one compared to a Chimp instead of George or Charlotte?

lol

(The follow-up question, if this wasn’t a troll, would be to ask “Well then, what does make a person black?” That could be entertaining.)

You are using the “No True Scotsman” fallacy on race. And since race is some made-up shit you can sorta get away with it. But I tell you, if my daughters are black enough to get a heaping dose of racism, they are black enough to be black.

Seems like Markle is not black enough for you to defend her, and not white enough

Meghan Markle is a lot like me — born to a white parent and a Black parent, but among the first of our “generation,” aka people who really aren’t one or the other, but are fighting back against being defined by others.

Sharon Osbourne is what happens when you let a stupid person think they have something worthwhile to say.

Sharon Osbourne is what happens when you let a stupid person think they have something worthwhile to say. It was her ignorance that made her entertaining to some (along with her family) nearly twenty years ago on MTV. That she’s still being paid to be stupid is the amazing part of the story.

Michelle is way better than I am. I will wash my hands of certain relatives with the quickness. I don’t have time to put up with nonsense, and in Meghan’s and Harry’s case put up with racist bullshit. Meghan and Harry have done the right thing and prioritized their marriage, mental health, child(ren) and happiness.

I know that Lady isn’t out here trying to use Bridgerton and a drop of weak coffee in the cream centuries (and royal family lines) back to give a pass to casual racism. That’s the part that’s there - the racism that isn’t cross burnings and N-words, but the subtle bullshit that can be easily excused as ‘not

I love that reasoning. “When race wasn’t important, there were plenty of people of color marrying royals. And by plenty, we mean two or three. And by people of color, we mean people whose ancestors from 400 years earlier were African. And then race became important so they could keep slaves and there was no more

Prince Harry marries a biracial Black woman, has child, steps back out of public eye after intense negative media coverage directed at his wife. Is subsequently stripped of military titles, patronages and royal funding. Wife is formally investigated for causing White Woman Tears.

Hell yeah! Damon better win this. Hollow Kingdom was awesome, but was a distant second place to WDKYMYB in my 2019 reading list. (And I don’t think I would have considered it “humor,” though there were some exceptionally funny parts.) The Dave Barry book was aight, he’s been doing the same schtick for like four
