Y’all know you have about 3, maybe 4 minutes on the 17th to get this, right?

Cori Bush is definitely part of The Squad. She was the very first of the Justice Democrats’ candidates - I was supporting Cori's campaign before anybody knew who AOC or the rest of them were

This story was a much needed relief. Loved Hayes’, ‘I’m a Congresswoman- if I wear it, it’s Congressional,’ comment. You know the boys don’t have these convos.

I don’t care about fashion or makeup, but these leaders helping each other out gives me life. And if you were elected to Congress and you wear clothes, it’s congressional dress. Who you are makes you congressional, not what you wear. Insert snarky comment about Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy, Devin Nunes and

Once again, The Root comes through with the story I didn’t know I needed today.

I love me some Rachel True and I have SO been enjoying re-watching Half & Half on Netflix! It’s literally the show I watch to keep from crying about lesson planning and general teacher life right now. I so relate to the show’s conversations about being black enough, dating, working on relationships with siblings, etc.

I know that posting a “glamour” picture of an actress is the normal thing, but in Ms. True’s case, her more candid shots really bring out why people’s hearts might skip a beat when they first see her.  She has a natural beauty that “glam” techniques just can’t imitate.

In the past, when I’ve looked at Bey and Solange, I’ve recognized the familial connection, but I never thought they looked alike. That third cover has schooled me.

“...you are ALWAYS here with news (and commentary) that no one else takes the time to print. In fact, you print so much content that I can’t keep up. Late night, early morning - you’re there.”*

It may just be their nature, that liberals are generally more chill and independent and have less of a hive mind than conservatives

Thank you so much for the link, Ms. Kai. When sites like Jezebel can’t put up any content until late in the day (if at all) on the weekends, you are ALWAYS here with news (and commentary) that no one else takes the time to print. In fact, you print so much content that I can’t keep up. Late night, early morning -

OH NO!!!! This news is a real bummer; I’ve always thought of her pieces as effortlessly sexy.

It looks like there are four replies but no ‘discussion’? It’s been 13 hours and no one wants to talk about WOC being routinely sexually assaulted? Black children get ‘the talk’ but are Black girls getting ‘the TALK’? Where I’m sitting is warm enough but I’m shivering anyway. Thank you for sharing this, Ms. Garza.

I’ve never been a fan of his, but it is encouraging that a white man like him who is the definition of privilege in every conceivable way, understands that it’s white people who need to do the work and not magical Black people guiding wayward, dumb white people to end racism.

Thank you for being a voice for those of us who were silenced. The mixed messages boys and girls receive about sex and sexuality in our communities ensures that the silencing of black women will continue. Only in teaching our men and boys how to respect consent and teaching our young women and girls to have a voice

Thank you for sharing what you witnessed with us, and with the world.

I’ve been seeing videos coming out of Nigeria and it’s just shocking and horrifying what’s happening over there. I’m praying for you all to get through this safely and succeed in your goals of getting the government to make this right (or as right as can possibly happen after all they’ve just done). First of all, the fact that my comment says I am addressing Wole Soyinka is completely tripping me out. Well done to The Root! It’s articles like this that remind me that this website is so much more than just another news blog. Like the Jim Crow-era Chicago Defender or the apartheid-era Drum magazine, The Root is

Brilliant man. Great writer.
