Setting my DVR when I get home. Seeing John Singleton’s name and that image immediately made me think this was going to be an adaptation of “Genius” Looks like it’s going down a similar vein but maybe not with the military operation in the comic. If you haven’t read it yet, here’s co-creator Marc Benardin talking

“I enjoy Black-ish and I will still support the show”

Why not just give money? The argument against it is just ‘they’ll only blow that money on booze, tobacco and lottery tickets’ but whenever people are actually given money, that doesn’t seem to happen in reality. It’s just a convenient stereotype, that poor people are irresponsible and that’s why they’re poor.

People talk about the Internet of Things being the next big Industrial Revolution, but driverless vehicles seem likely to have much bigger impact on the economy and how it will shape the job market.

Genuine question: is there a reason NOT to advocate as a cross racial class based alliance here rather than advocate specifically for the AA population?

“Elvis Presley ain’t got no soul, Chuck Berry is rock n’ roll”

Young Mr. Bridges is so inspirational and stylish. A lot of fashion people come and go, but sometimes you just know when you are looking at someone who is a very special talent and in it for the long haul. He is also as cute as a button. :) All the love and luck to you Moe.

I can’t believe I didn’t know some of these things! Embarrassed. I’m going to have to break down and add Larson’s book to my collection.

Larson recalls that Tubman was so tough that when she suffered from a “violent toothache,” she dealt with it by knocking the tooth out with a rock.

Damn.

David Alan Grier has been doing a pretty funny bit where he plays a mother calling in her kids, who are all named after medications. Maybe you can ask him, as soon as he’s finished chatting up the writer who had a coincidentally similar idea.

Aww need a safe space and a tissue? Making fun of white people = ok. Black people? NO U RACIST!

Well, if Leslie Jones or or another black cast member pitched or wrote the skit, it wouldn’t be racist. It would still be dumb and unfunny, though.

Someone needs to teach the Beckys and Chads of the world that it is not okay to make fun of names like this.

If I laughed and other people laughed how is it not funny?

How do we know who pitched this bit? What if it was Leslie Jones? I mean, I agree that mocking original Black names isn’t great (why would you necessarily want to give your kids white Christian ones?) but it may not be so simple.
