The New York Daily News is reporting that Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords may be leaving the hospital by Friday. According to her "stunned" doctors, Giffords, who was shot in the head during the Arizona massacre, is making such rapid progress that she could be released from the hospital soon. Dr. Michael Lemole stated that they are trying to get her to the next phase of recovery as soon as possible, since her current condition has improved tremendously. Giffords still cannot speak because of a breathing tube in her neck, and doctors are not sure how well she can see after surgery to remove bone fragments pressing on her right eye. Doctors are optimistic because she was taken off the critical list over the weekend.

Giffords' remarkable recovery is being referred to as a miracle by many. One thing is for certain: The saying, "You can't keep a good woman down" exists for a reason.
