Holly Nicole Solomon was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for running her husband over with her SUV when she found out that he didn’t vote in the 2012 presidential elections, the Associated Press reports.

Solomon, a 31-year-old Mesa, Ariz., resident, thought the political contest was especially important because Barack Obama was up for re-election—and subsequently won. Her husband says that Solomon felt strongly that Obama’s policies would cause her family financial distress, and when she found out that her husband didn’t bother to vote, she became enraged.

Her husband told investigators that Solomon chased him through a parking lot with her car, cornered him as he hid behind a light pole and then hit him with her SUV. Her husband was pinned underneath the car even as he tried to escape.
