Earlier this month, an Arizona grandmother thought she was texting one of her grandchildren, when it turned out her message went to a random stranger. Wanda Dench inadvertently texted 17-year-old Jamal Hinton of Chandler, Ariz., and when he asked who was texting him, she simply replied, "Your grandma." Jamal then asked for a photo of the mysterious grandmother to verify, and once he saw the pic, he replied with his own picture and wrote, “You not my grandma."

But that didn't stop Dench from extending Jamal an invite to Thanksgiving dinner. And while people across the country were celebrating Thanksgiving with family Thursday, Jamal had a seat at Dench's table.

“She is a very sweet lady,” Jamal said. “She told me her husband was a veteran and she always invited his friends over for dinner, so she’s used to having a lot of people over. I just got a vibe from her that made me feel at home.”

Dench said the experience has given her faith in humanity and she plans to keep in touch with Jamal.
