Kendrick Lamar’s Damn. was pretty much literally the best album of 2017. K-Dot’s fourth studio album was nominated for Album of the Year and won Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammys. It was selected as Billboard’s Year-End No. 1 album of 2017 and received widespread acclaim from critics.
Yet somehow it appears that there are at least three people who have never heard a song from the masterpiece, and they all ended up on Jeopardy! on Thursday night.
The question posed by host Alex Trebek could not have been more obvious, including the names of the album’s three hit singles, and even the name of the album itself. Yet the contestants still drew a blank.
“Hitmaking was in his ‘DNA.’ He had ‘LOYALTY.’ He was ‘HUMBLE.’ And in ‘LOVE.’—DAMN,” Trebek said.
(Cue the blank awkward, silent stares of the contestants Rob, Catherine and Alan, who looked like a fun guy based on the way he writes his name.)
Eventually the well-known “time’s up” noise chimed in, with Trebek casually tossing out, “That would be Kendrick Lamar.”
It really could not have been more obvious than that, but I guess you miss what you miss.
I wonder if the contestants have seen Black Panther yet, since they apparently like missing out.
