(The Root) — The Internet has seen its fair share of offensive Facebook pages and memes since the trial of George Zimmerman began. There have been Facebook pages featuring Photoshopped pictures of the body of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed teen whom Zimmerman was tried for killing; games featuring or based on both Trayvon and Zimmerman; and, as we recently saw, the emergence of an offensive meme called "Trayvoning."
Now there are Facebook pages calling for the murder of Zimmerman scattered about, and they aren't being removed despite public request.
PC Mag reports that some pages were removed, but some remain. Users who requested the removal of pages with titles like "Kill George Zimmerman" and "George Zimmerman Must Die" were reportedly told by Facebook that the pages "did not violate its community standards and would therefore not be taken down."
Anonymous Internet users aren't the only ones calling for Zimmerman's head. Since he was acquitted for both the second-degree murder and manslaughter of Trayvon, the New Black Panthers have reportedly announced a $10,000 reward for his capture.
