Another day, another lawsuit f0r Sean “Diddy” Combs. Dawn Richard, who appeared in Diddy’s MTV series “Making the Band” and went on to form the group Danity Kane, has claimed the musician, producer, and mogul “belittled, terrorized and sexually abused her,” according to TMZ.
Per the lawsuit, Richard claims that Diddy manipulated her for years, starting when she filmed the popular reality television series, with him promising to “advance” the singer’s career so long as she “relented to his alleged twisted demands.”
Some of the alleged details of the suit include moments during on-set auditions where Diddy would refer to the female participants as “fat,” “ugly,” “bitches” and “hoes.” The documents also allege that in 2005, Richard witnessed Kim Porter, Diddy’s late former girlfriend, leaving a music studio with “her face all banged up,” signaled to Richard what Diddy was allegedly capable of.
Other incidents include Richard claiming she witnessed Diddy, high on drugs, throw his ex Cassie “against a wall, choke her and drag her up a flight of stairs in his L.A. home.” The suit includes other incidences of Richard allegedly witnessing Diddy’s violence toward Cassie, including a moment when he threw a “scalding pan of eggs” at her, and other moments when he would attempt to strangle her. Richard and other artists’ support of Cassie went on to be a point of contention between Richard and Diddy, the documents outline.
Diddy, upon finding out about Richard giving Cassie advice to leave Diddy, allegedly told Richard, “Don’t tell my bitch [Cassie] what she need to be doing ... Just make money and shut the f**k up...I end artists...I shelve careers...You could be missing...You bitches want to die today.”
The abuse allegedly continued for years, with Diddy forcing Richard to rehearse for 48 hours at a time with no sleep, and forcing her into sexually inappropriate situations, including barging into her dressing room while she was naked. She also claims Diddy “inappropriately touched her breasts and butt.”
As The Root previously reported, this lawsuit joins many sexual assault suits currently aimed at Diddy. Over this last year alone, Diddy became the subject of a federal criminal investigation, and following the fallout from the various lawsuits and allegations stepped down as chairman of Revolt TV and lost various brand partnerships.
