Join The Root at the 11th National Black Writers Conference — presented by the Center for Black Literature at CUNY's Medgar Evers College in the college's Founders Auditorium — this Thursday, March 29, through Sunday, April 2.

This year's NBWC honors novelist and poet Ishmael Reed; Kenyan-born author Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o; poet and activist Nikki Giovanni; and Dr. Howard Dodson, former director of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. This year's conference will also address the roles of migration and Diaspora, along with popular culture and nature, in black literature. Conference participants include prominent novelists, authors and journalists, including The Root's assistant editor, Akoto Ofori-Atta.

For more information on the 11th NBWC, and to register, visit the conference's website.
