Grammy-nominated R&B artist Angie Stone and her daughter were arrested in Georgia following a domestic violence incident. Police were called to Stone’s Dekalb County residence, where she informed them that her 30-year-old daughter, Diamond Stone, had punched her several times in the face. The singer said that in self-defense, she threw a metal stand, which knocked out her daughter’s two front teeth.

“Ms. Diamond Stone then went on to state that Ms. Angie Stone started [getting] in her face, telling her she needed to leave because she is tired [of] her,” the police report read. “Ms. Diamond Stone then stated her and Ms. Angie Stone started to argue, and that’s when a physical altercation started to occur.”

According to the report, Angie Stone said she did not realize that the metal stand had hit her daughter in the face until after the fact.

“Once she realized this,” according to the police report, “she quickly put the stand down and attempted to get away from Ms. Diamond Stone. Ms. Angie Stone then stated while she tried to get away, Ms. Diamond Stone continued to come after her as if to strike her again but stated that [a witness to the occurrence] came to break up the fight.”

Angie Stone, who was arrested in Lithonia, Ga., on Monday, was charged with aggravated battery. According to court documents, the fight erupted after an argument over her grandchildren by Diamond Stone. Angie Stone is currently being held in Dekalb County jail. Her daughter was released without any charges.
