Make an unfounded attack on CNN's anchor Anderson Cooper and he'll strike back, both at your logic and at your very legitimacy as a television personality. That's the lesson Star Jones learned when she suggested that the 360 host's recent announcement about his sexual orientation could have been a ploy to boost ratings.
In his incredulous response in the Anderson Cooper Live clip below, he points out that any well-played publicity stunt would have been orchestrated in an entirely different way. But he doesn't stop there. Cooper also makes sure to add that his mother didn't know who Jones was (ouch), and that he himself wasn't even aware that she was on the air anymore. Plus, he manages to get in some jabs about her wedding spectacle and weight-loss surgery.
Cooper may not pay any attention to Jones on TV, but she won't be missed on Twitter. She used her account to respond, "I was wrong. @andersoncooper didn't come out as a ratings ploy. He used ME talking about him coming out @todayshow as a ratings ploy. #mybad."
