An Unhappy Birthday

So, how long exactly does it take to release or transfer the 248 prisoners still remaining in Guantanamo? According to Obama's transition team, the process will take several months. Some experts anticipate that closing the detention camp will take as much as a year to complete. Meanwhile, the international community is up in arms. Organizations like the ACLU have criticized Obama, citing a lack of details on the matter or a timeline for closing down the detention camp. Claims of abuse have been a major issue at Guantanamo for sometime now. And don't think that The Buzz has forgotten about Abu Ghraib. Thankfully, the incoming administration has rejected a recent proposal by the Bush administration to introduce a law allowing prisoners to be detained in the U.S. indefinitely. Uh, can we say Guantanamo: The Sequel?  Hell no!
