Amy Blagojevich, the oldest daughter of former Illinois governor and current federal inmate Rod Blagojevich, used Facebook to blast former President Barack Obama for not releasing her father from prison, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The 20-year-old reportedly had her mom post her missive on her Facebook page.
Amy Blagojevich, a Northwestern University student, wrote that Obama has “broken my heart once again, and you’ve betrayed the concept of justice like many other heartless individuals before you,” according to the Chicago Sun-Times. She went on to add that some unnamed person in Obama’s office had assured her that letters she and her younger sister had written would be given to the president.
“You can’t deny that you saw the letters my sister and I wrote. I am almost certain that someone put them directly in your hands,” she wrote Thursday. “That’s what they told us they would do, at least. So you read them. You knew of our heartache and desperation.”
She added, “Turns out you are just like the rest—selfish and spineless.”
Amy, I know that your heart aches for your father’s return, but let me add, with all due respect, that your father is a few crayons short of a full box. Let’s go back down the list of things he did that not only earned him his jail cell but also confirmed that Obama would never fuck with him.
In addition to several pay-to-play schemes that Papa Blagojevich was caught running during his time as governor, he was caught in 2008 by the feds trying to sell Obama’s Senate seat, which was left vacant after his run to the White House. Instead of appointing someone to fill the vacancy, Papa Blagojevich tried to sell it and was recorded by the FBI saying, “I’ve got this thing, and it’s fucking golden. I’m just not giving it up for fucking nothing.”
After the feds ran in your family’s home and locked your father up, you’d think he’d lay low, but not Papa Blagojevich. He went on a world tour like a celebrity. While the state was building a case against him, Papa Blagojevich appeared on Today, Good Morning America, The Early Show, The View, Fox News, CNN and MSNBC claiming his innocence.
In 2009, after being removed from office, he signed on to appear in NBC’s reality show I’m a Celebrity ... Get Me out of Here!, but a judge shut that down quick, saying that instead of flying to Costa Rica, where the show was filmed, maybe Blagojevich should be focusing on the court case ahead. So Mama Blagojevich went instead.
Later that same year, Papa Blagojevich starred in the musical Rod Blagojevich Superstar and penned an autobiography, The Governor: The Truth Behind the Political Scandal That Continues to Rock the Nation. In 2010 he would star on season 9 of Celebrity Apprentice. Donald Trump praised Papa Blagojevich’s “tremendous courage and guts.” Even though Papa Blagojevich was canned during the fourth episode, maybe Trump is the president you need to beg for a pardon, since he saw something in your corrupt father.
But if you really need more proof as to why Obama walked out of the Oval Office and never looked at your dad’s pardon papers again, grab a January 2010 copy of Esquire—you know, the one in which your dad said that he was blacker than Obama:
Everything he’s saying’s on the teleprompter. I’m blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where he lived. I saw it all growing up.
Papa Blagojevich is four years into a 14-year sentence—and he’ll be there until his scheduled release in 2024, unless Trump wants to take care of Amy’s papa.
