The dynamic and multitalented Rae recently landed the lead role in American Princess, a new feature film that will be produced by Paul Feig and directed by Stella Meghie, who recently helmed the YA adaptation, Everything, Everything starring Amandla Stenberg.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rae will play an American woman who moves to London, “where she’s drawn into a world of wealth and high society and falls in love in a very unexpected way.”

Sounds opulent and a touch familiar—and just the kind of light, escapist fantasy some of us need.

THR reports that Amy Aniobi, a writer and co-executive producer on Insecure, will help tweak the original script. Rae—who has been nominated for multiple honors for her work as a writer and creator of Insecure and her web series, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, has recently been recognized for her acting as well. Rae was nominated for an Emmy this part year for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series and has received two Golden Globe nominations for her role on Insecure as well.

She’s currently starring in The Hate U Give, out in theaters now.
