Black people everywhere were shocked when reality TV star Amber Rose announced she would be speaking at the Republican National Convention this month.

Rose joined a long list of Black speakers hoping to garner Black support for the GOP nominee during the convention.

“No matter your political background, the best chance we have to give our babies a better life is to elect Donald Trump president of the United States,’’ she said during the beginning of her  five-minute speech.

The mother of two children insisted “the media has lied to us about Donald Trump.”

She continued saying Trump was not a racist but instead a visionary who is about “all love.”

Rose has caught heat over the years from Black folks for identifying as mixed-race and not exclusively Black. She appeared on the reality TV show “College Hill: Celebrity Edition” where co-star Joseline Hernandez called Rose “conflicted” about her racial identity.

To clarify, Rose’s mother is a Black woman; her father is white. Although she prefers to identify as mixed or biracial, Rose insists she never denounced her Blackness, according to several Instagram posts she made last year.

Continuing her speech, Rose told the story of how she became a MAGA hat wearer. She thanked her father in the crowd — the first in her family to support Trump — for opening her eyes and forcing her to do her own research on the former president.

According to Rose, her father sent her down a rabbit hole to prove Trump was a racist. Although the former president has a long, well-documented rap sheet full of racist remarks, gestures, and policies — as previously reported on by The Root — Rose said she came up with nothing. Instead, she arrived at the conclusion that “Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay, or straight.”

Rose concluded her Trump advertisement by insisting “inflation is out of control, and you know in your heart it was not like this under Donald Trump.” The former president has notoriously blamed President Biden for an increase in inflation. Experts, however say inflation is largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, during which Trump was partially president, and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, according to CNBC and The Wall Street Journal.

A gushing Trump gave the model a standing ovation at the conclusion of her speech. MSNBC host Joy Reid questioned if Rose holds any political weight in the Black community. “I don’t know anyone who takes their political cues from Amber Rose,” she said.

In contrast, Democratic strategist Van Jones said Rose’s speech was “dangerous” for the Democratic party, according to The Hill. He cited Rose’s ability to connect with the millions of Americans watching her speech as reason for his party to be concerned.
