Amber Rose has quickly walked back her claims that Beyoncé stole her speech that she made at the Republican National Convention earlier this year. On Friday (Oct. 25), the “Cowboy Carter” artist and her longtime friend Kelly Rowland appeared at a Houston rally for Vice President Kamala Harris.
During her introduction for Harris, Bey said: “I’m not here as a celebrity, I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother.”
She also stated that she’s a mom “who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we’re not divided.” Beyoncé encouraged the crowd to vote: “We must vote, and we need you.”
It wasn’t long before Rose went on Instagram to accuse the Destiny’s Child star of stealing her words: “She wanna be me so bad. Literally took my whole speech,” Amber wrote.
During her RNC speech in July, the “SlutWalk” founder stated: “I’m a mother. My whole world revolves around providing for my children, keeping them safe...We all want a better country for our children.”
The comparison didn’t end well for Rose.
After getting dragged on the internet, Rose now says her comment was in jest. “I was literally trolling,” she told TMZ. “I troll on my friends all the time—I didn’t think that was going to be international news. But I love Beyoncé, I know Beyoncé, she’s an amazing girl...I was low-key trolling.”
Rose also said that it’s “crazy” how a single comment can set the internet ablaze.
“I was literally joking,” she reiterated. Rose continued by saying only “a delusional person” would be serious about Bey wanting to be them. She added that we “live in a free country” where folks are free to have their own political opinions.
While Bey supports Harris, Rose has made it known that she is an ardent supporter of Donald Trump.
