Revenge allegedly was on the mind of a Hueytown, Ala., teen, who is accused of robbing four Subway Restaurants.
Zachary Rapheal Torrance, 18, allegedly told investigators he was angry and wanted his money back after failing to lose weight on the eatery’s famous so-called Jared diet, according to AL.com. He was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree robbery after hitting up four of the restaurants in Jefferson County, Ala., the report says.
"I don't know if he was kidding or not, but he said he had tried the Jared Diet and it hadn't worked for him, so he wanted his money back,'' said Hueytown Police Chief Chuck Hagler, according to the news site.
Exactly what is the Jared diet? It became a thing 15 years ago after Subway commercial spokesman Jared Fogle made national headlines when he lost 245 pounds eating just the chain's turkey sandwiches.
Torrance, of Fairfield, Ala., was arrested while shopping at a Wal-Mart in Hueytown. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail and bond was set at $250,000.
