A fake New York City Police Department ID card showing the Rev. Al Sharpton as the police commissioner has been passed around social media and, reportedly, even among NYPD cops, according to the New York Daily News.

According to the Daily News, some cops have been upset by what has been perceived as Sharpton's influence over New York Mayor Bill de Blasio in the wake of the choke hold death of Eric Garner and have shared the fake-ID photo via email and social media.

The fake ID is set to look exactly like a police-issued NYPD ID but has a photo of Sharpton against a red background and identifies "Alfred C. Sharpton" as "police commissioner," complete with an NYPD seal.

Garner's death was recorded and shared on social media sites and showed Officer Daniel Pantaleo placing Garner in what has been reported as a choke hold, a practice that has been banned by the NYPD. Garner's death has been ruled a homicide, and Pantaleo has been put on desk duty and stripped of his badge and gun pending a full investigation, according to the Daily News.
