The New York Daily News is reporting that AIDS activist Victor Mooney is rowing a boat solo from Africa to New York as part of his campaign to fight AIDS. Mooney has already attempted to do this two previous times and failed, although he is determined to make the 5,000-mile journey safely. Mooney, 45, is embarking on this endeavor to honor his brother who died of AIDS and another brother who is living with the disease. World AIDS Day is Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010. He planned to launch his journey that day but instead has asked 5,000 people to tweet their names to him for each mile he has to travel. Let's hope the third time is the charm for Mooney, who is going all out to honor the memory of one brother and fight for research and awareness that may save another one.
