The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together. The first point in this listicle authored by Damon Young, my colleague at The Root, in which he opines about what happened to Steve Harvey the night of the Miss Universe pageant, is starting to seem more and more true: Harvey’s got way too many jobs. Way too many hosting jobs, that is.
He probably thought: “Shoot, I host Family Feud, my own show, a radio show; what do I need to stick around for the entire Miss Universe rehearsal fo’?”
According to the New York Daily News, Harvey “didn’t stay for all of the show’s final run-through and practice.”
So the last hour or so of rehearsals, when Harvey might have been given a mock card that displayed who the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up would be, didn’t go down.
A source told ET Online that while Harvey went to the beginning of rehearsals, he indeed missed the last hour and “did not practice the ending.”
Mistakes are mistakes, and I think Harvey meant well. But I’d bet everything in my wallet he’ll never miss another hour of rehearsal again.
