Outside of hearing an AI version of his voice on Drake’s “Taylor-Made Freestyle” diss towards Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg has been relatively quiet when it comes to the feud between the two rappers. Until now.
While he didn’t take sides or choose a winner, in a new interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” he credited both rappers for “raising the bar” as it relates to putting out real music with impressive lyricism and production. He also said both heavyweights have upped the ante for fellow artists to where they can no longer skirt by doing “mumble rap.”
“The only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout-out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing,” the “Gin and Juice” rapper explained. “Because the writing has been upped since the confrontation or whatever you call it, whatever they went through.”
He went on to share:
“Those are my nephews. I’m not in the middle of it. I support both of them and that’s personal business, not my business. As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So, thank y’all.”
The beef between Kung-Fu Kenny and Drizzy Drake definitely seems to be quieted down, even though Drake attempted to address MetroBoomin’s diss just last week with his verse on Sexxy Red’s recently released single “U My Everything.”
Though, with “BBL Drizzy” and “They Not Like Us” still getting radioplay and popping up all over social media videos, there was really no need for him to egg this thing on any further.
