The season of breakups continues with the latest celebrity split making us question romance and relationships. On Tuesday, Lori Harvey and Damson Idris confirmed that they’ve broken up after dating for a year.
“We are at a point in our lives where our individual paths require our full attention and dedication,” the former couple said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We part ways remaining friends with nothing but love and respect for each other and the time we shared together.”
Before the internet goes crazy about this, let’s read between the lines. Basically, they’re two young, successful artists who are at the peak of their careers and want to strike while the iron is hot. That happens with young couples every day, so it’s not the crazy occurrence gossip sites will try to paint it as.
It’s also worth noting that none of your Lori Harvey slander will be tolerated. Because she’s been in relationships with other high-profile men, we already know the jokes and comments that will be made. She is a young woman enjoying her single life and doesn’t deserve judgment for that. Men in her position do not receive the same scorn, so let Lori live and back off.
Rumors about their possible split began swirling on Monday when they unfollowed one another on Instagram and started deleting photos from social media. The speculation got louder when they attended Odell Beckham Jr.’s star-studded birthday party separately. In today’s world, the breakup isn’t official until it hits social media.
Lori, the youngest daughter of TV personality Steve Harvey, and the Snowfall star’s relationship has been in the headlines since December 2022, when the “are they a thing” guessing game started. They went official at the model’s 26th birthday party in January. In September, she took to her Instagram Stories to send Idris birthday wishes, writing, “Happyyyy Birthdayyyy twinnn!!!! I love youuuu.”
Harvey and Idris join Jeezy and Jeannie Mai; Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith; Billy Porter and his husband, Adam Smith; actress Eva Marcille and her husband, Michael Sterling; and The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Drew Sidora and Ralph Pittman as high-profile couples to call it quits in 2023.
