At the start of 2023, Jonathan Majors was poised to reach A-list status. He had a scene-stealing role in “Creed III,” was set to make a splash as the big bad for the next two phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was receiving awards buzz for his haunting drama, “Magazine Dreams.”

That all changed in March 2023 when the actor was arrested for alleging assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. This led to him losing out on several high-profile projects, Marvel moving on from his villain, Kang, and a revealing assault trial. He was eventually found guilty of “one count of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment.” In April, he was sentenced to continue therapy and participate in a dometic violence treatment program for one year.

Following his sentencing, the “Devotion” star’s 2024 revolved around his highly-scrutinized relationship with actress Meagan Good. While the internet didn’t seem to approve, they spent the year supporting one another. The couple announced their engagement in November.

Majors ended this year by reaching a settlement with Jabbari in her civil lawsuit. With his legal issues handled and his personal life in a good place, the actor will likely turn his attention to getting his career back on track.

It was recently announced that “Magazine Dreams” will finally receive a theatrical release March 21. In the film, he plays Killian Maddox, an amateur bodybuilder obsessed with becoming a champion who uses steroids to accomplish his goals, no matter how much physical and mental damage it’s doing to his life.

The movie finally getting a release date has some of Majors’ fans wondering if this could be the start of a comeback for the actor. Honestly, we’re just not sure: He’s failed to show any of the remorse that is usually required of public figures in his situation.

Plus, early reactions from “Magazine Dreams’” 2023 Sundance Film Festival screening described his character as volatile, dark and brooding. If you’re trying to get audiences to move past your assault controversy, this may not be the role to accomplish that.

Throughout the “Loki” actor’s scandal, the one thing that’s never been questioned is his talent. If Jonathan Majors wants a real chance at a career comeback, he’s going to have to take some unexpected, smaller roles, prove that he’s not a bad guy and show some real humility and remorse. It’s actually not that complicated, as the path has been marked by plenty of other celebrities before him.
