Finally, some good news about African-American relationships. Black couples are more likely than others to share core religious beliefs. Thus they are more likely to pray together, which is a factor that has been linked to greater happiness in marriages and relationships, according to a recent study released by the Journal of Marriage and Family. The study found that 40 percent of blacks in marriages and live-in relationships who attended religious services regularly had a partner who did the same, compared with 29 percent of non-Hispanic whites and 29 percent of Hispanics. See, black relationships are not all pathological and marked by misery, as many would have you believe. It is good to know that "the family that prays together stays together" is more than an adage.
