It’s been a good run for Don Cheadle as the cool yet complicated management consultant Marty Kaan on Showtime’s hit series House of Lies. Marty helped Cheadle pick up four NAACP Image Award nominations, including two wins (2013, 2016); three Golden Globe nominations, including one win (2013); and four Emmy nominations. That’s in addition to suiting up as War Machine in Captain America: Civil War and Iron Man and as real-life legend Miles Davis for Miles Ahead, which he also directed. After five seasons, it’s time for Marty and the crew, as well as the fam, to say goodbye. But, oh boy, are there plenty of memories!
Remember when we first got a taste of Marty and his “work” crew? In some ways, Clyde, Doug and, of course, Jeannie were already more than co-workers.
Tender moments like this with son Roscoe let us know early on that Marty, like many working professional parents, worried if he was doing all he could for his child. Here we see it in his eyes!
Maybe Chris Rock first spotted this special lady, Megalyn Echikunwoke, brilliantly playing April, Marty’s insanely smart hooker girlfriend, in season 1. Rock and Echikunwoke went public with their relationship in February.
Who can forget Nia Long as Tamara, one of Marty’s many old flames, and Marty mixing business with pleasure? He just loves doing things the hard way!
Marty enjoying smiles, not frowns, with dad Jeremiah and brother Malcolm.
T.I., as ambitious hip-hop clothing mogul Lukas, livened up the third season of House of Lies in more ways than one. Here he lays on the charm with Jeannie as Marty looks on skeptically.
Why would Marty not ride it out in Cuba with the crew, Clyde, Doug and Jeannie, for the series finale? House of Lies became the first U.S. scripted show to film there since President Barack Obama restored diplomatic relations last summer.
