Actress Uzo Aduba announced the birth of her baby girl with her husband, filmmaker Robert Sweeting, on Instagram.
In an adorable picture, the Emmy winner is seen smiling during a skin-to-skin moment with baby Adaiba Lee Nonyem.
Though the baby’s face is covered, we can see her head full of black hair and a pink blanket draped across her back. The picture is captioned:
My daughter. I’ve never been in love so quickly, so deeply in my entire life. I really don’t know what to say, guys. My heart is full. Thank you, God. I have joy like a fountain. I have witnessed a miraculous thing, and I feel blessed to know you are ours. We love you so much, Adaiba Lee Nonyem - Daughter of the people, treasurer of the mother’s names who came before you. I’m a Mommy you guys. Motherhood. I’ve joined the club. I hear the dues are high, but the membership is completely worth it:). #grateful
Aduba first revealed her pregnancy on the 2023 Tony Awards red carpet in June, wearing a tangerine-colored suit that highlighted her cute baby bump. She also posted a video on social media June 11, explaining her excitement to finally be a mommy.
“I know as the three of us continue to grow, our only, ONLY goal will be to love you, little one. My goodness. Look what God has done,” she wrote. Since then she’s been posting the beautiful moments of her pregnancy, from her baby shower to attending Beyoncé’s Renaissance concert, which she captioned “Bey-bee’s first concert”.
Aduba has been fairly private about her personal life over the years — even waiting almost a whole year after she got married to share it with social media in 2021 — so being able to see this part of her life is rare. Congratulations to the new parents!
