Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez has been slapped with two more homicide charges in the shooting deaths of two men in Boston in 2012, according to Yahoo Sports.

A Suffolk County, Mass., grand jury returned the indictment against Hernandez, who is already in custody and awaiting trial on first-degree murder charges for the 2013 death of Odin Lloyd. Now he has also been charged in the July 2012 drive-by shootout, which killed Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu and Safiro Teixeira Furtado.

According to the news report, Hernandez and the two victims were at a Boston nightclub around the same time and also left the club at the same time. There are witness reports of a vehicle with Rhode Island license plates subsequently stopping next to the victims' car and opening fire.

"They just came up and started firing for no reason at all," the alleged eyewitness was quoted saying last year, according to Yahoo Sports. "We never had any trouble. We were not those kind of people. We were just having fun. … Things happened so fast. I was trying to defend myself. They were shooting everywhere inside the car, front to back. They just came to kill. That's it."

"For us, this case was not about Aaron Hernandez," Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said. "This case was about two victims, who were stalked, ambushed and senselessly murdered on the streets of the city they called home."
