Earlier this year, hip-hop lost one of its greats when Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest died. Phife's death left an indelible mark on the group, but before he died, the group had been working on new music that we'll be able to hear soon.
Q-Tip announced on Facebook that the final ATCQ album will be released Nov. 11. Although the album's title is yet unknown, the rapper says the album was inspired by a November 2015 group reunion that happened on The Tonight Show.
“As we left 30 Rock I felt the need, we all did, to get back to the studio and start that cook up!! SO WE GOT TO IT!!” Q-Tip said on Facebook.
Although Phife died before completing the album, his material was enough, and with the remaining members, as well as appearances by Busta Rhymes and Consequence, ATCQ lives on.
“No this isn’t filled with old Phife bars. … This is that pure, unstepped on pure!” Q-Tip said.
