Have you seen this man? This Florida man is allegedly wanted by authorities for slashing a friend with a samurai sword after a dispute over borrowing an Xbox.

No gaming console will ever be THAT serious.

Daytona Beach Police officials said 25-year-old Walter Grimes stopped by his friend’s apartment on South Beach Street Monday evening. The two had known each other for two years. The friend told police Grimes was in distress over his housing insecurity and having to drag his belongings everywhere he went. However, that night, Grimes asked the friend to lend him his Xbox. The friend declined and seconds later, Grimes had a rather violent reaction to the rejection.

Police said Grimes grabbed the friend’s samurai sword and slashed him on the side of his face and on his shoulder. Without saying a word, the friend said Grimes ran from the home and was never to be seen again.

The victim — who told police he was unsure if he wanted to pursue charges — was observed to have suffered an approximately 3-inch long laceration to his left upper cheek, an approximately 2-inch laceration to his left shoulder and a small laceration to his right knuckle area, according to the affidavit. His injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

A neighbor reported hearing screams and saw the victim open his door while screaming and covered in blood, the affidavit states. When the neighbor asked what had happened, the victim allegedly pointed to the sword on the ground and stated, “Walter stabbed me.”

The neighbor then called 911, police said.

As of Wednesday, Grimes is still on the run. According to Volusia County jail records, he was previously arrested on battery and criminal mischief charges back in November 2020.
