It’s probably safe to say that Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Leon Bridges is having a very good year. His acclaimed 2018 sophomore studio album Good Thing debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts, and he’s currently touring some of the most acclaimed venues in the country. Now, the vintage-obsessed singer is taking his style sense into a new arena with a limited-edition collaboration with eyewear brand Ahlem.

Ahlem, designed by CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Ahlem Manai-Platt, has a vintage aesthetic complimentary to Bridges’ own. Their capsule collection, Ahlem for Leon Bridges, is a line of retro-inspired sunglasses inspired by Good Thing, and is literally solid gold—frames, that is.

“I’m big on sunglasses,” Bridges told Vogue. “I love a lot of mostly retro, vintage sunglasses ... I really liked Ahlem’s aesthetic and what she’s doing with her sunglasses: a bit of vintage in a modern vibe.”

As reported by Vogue:

The yellow-tinted shades are laser engraved with lyrics from Bridges’s song “Bad Bad News,” and the special packaging includes clip-on lenses, a vinyl edition of Bridges’s album, and two hand-stitched leather-like cases.

The engraved lyric? “Alright, alright, all day all night.”

But owning a piece of Bridges’ style won’t come cheap: When the lenses become available on September 10, they’ll retail for $690—because, solid gold, y’all.

The best part? Seventy percent of the proceeds (that’s $483 of every purchase) will go to Westminster Elementary in Venice, Calif., a magnet school focusing on math, science, technology and environmental studies—with a student body predominantly comprised of students of color.

But if you want to get philanthropic and fly, get your preorder on, because only 50 will be produced.
