Did N.W.A cement their position as one of the most trailblazing groups in hip-hop this year or what?
That happened largely because of the highly successful biopic Straight Outta Compton, which jogged people's memories about how significant the group was to rap music. It also doesn't hurt that N.W.A was finally selected to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, USA Today reports. The group has been eligible for four years.
On April 8, 2016, N.W.A will be officially inducted. As MTV News explains, it is joining four other rap groups in that canon: Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (2007), Run-DMC (2009), the Beastie Boys (2012) and Public Enemy (2013).
Congratulations to Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, MC Ren, DJ Yella, the D.O.C. and the late, great Eazy-E on this honor.
