An elderly international jewelry thief was arrested, but later released on bond, after allegedly lifting a pair of earrings from Saks Fifth Avenue, ABC News reports.

Doris Payne, 85, was arrested Oct. 23 at the Saks at the Phipps Plaza Mall in Atlanta before being released on a $2,500 bond. Payne was reportedly caught on surveillance video taking a pair of earrings, valued at $650, from the Christian Dior boutique.

According to the police report, the elderly woman was stopped inside Phipps Plaza and the earrings were recovered from her pocket. She was charged with theft and taken to the Fulton County Jail. ABC notes that it is not the first time the West Virginia native has been caught stealing high-end jewelry. The 85-year-old was the star of the 2013 documentary The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne, which detailed how she had stolen $2 million in jewelry across the globe.

“For those who have an automatic assumption, everyone is entitled to their day in court,” Payne’s lawyer, Shawn McCullers, said. “Her past should not dictate her present.”

Right now, McCullers said, Payne’s health is his main concern as his client awaits arraignment.

“She had her initial appearance in court, but we asked for her to be taken either immediately to the hospital or housed in a medical ward,” he added.
