Rapper 50 Cent isn’t a fan of Lee Daniels’ Empire—especially since he already thinks it’s similar to Power, the Starz series he executive-produces. Empire’s second season premiered two weeks ago, and although it had excellent ratings, they weren’t near the series’ premiere ratings.
According to The Wrap, Empire had 16 million viewers during its premiere, but last Wednesday the ratings dropped to 13.7 million viewers, which gave 50 the perfect opportunity to gloat.
“EMPIRES TV RATINGS TOOK A HUGE HIT. Ok I’ll stop now. COOKIE CALL ME BABY. I’ll tell every body to watch the show for you. LOL,” 50 posted on Instagram, a post that was eventually deleted. The photo 50 shared, and made a comment on, came from another Instagram account belonging to Industryonblast_, and it noted that Empire’s ratings drop could be due to all of the “gay stuff.”
“There are 3 million less viewers who tuned into last night’s Empire episode!!!! did you watch it?” the post said. “We could not take the extra gay stuff or celebrity stuff last night!!!!”
So it wasn’t the fact that Lucious Lyon is a horrible rapper that turned off someone, it was because of the gay stuff. Got it. Living in the world must be hard.
In any event, 50 isn’t one to mince words when he goes after Empire.
Can you imagine if Power and Empire were on at the same time? Then we’d definitely see who’d come out on top.
