You gotta give it up for Curtis Jackson: Two decades removed from his career apex in Hip-Hop music, he’s remained relevant in the culture by way of acting and producing in Starz’s wildly popular “Power” universe. He’s also kept his bag up with lucrative business deals, which include his Sire Spirts brand that produces Cognac and champagne.
But 50 Cent is probably just as popular (and notorious) for his master troll game on social media. His more than 30 million Instagram followers stay on the hook with delight – and often outrage – to see who’s next in his crosshairs. Here are his biggest troll moments of 2023:
All things Diddy
Fif has made precisely zero bones about taking shots at his fellow Hip-Hop mogul, especially following Diddy’s November lawsuit by and subsequent settlement with Cassie. He’s hopped on every negative Diddy headline with delight, jokingly threatening to create a “Surviving P. Diddy” documentary that folks are convinced might just be authentic. Fif’s merging of Diddy and R. Kelly’s faces is some nasty work, but it’s par for his course.
We’re not sure what Diddy did to piss off Fif, but this trolling is a not-so-gentle reminder to keep off of his bad side…
Back at it with Ja Rule…
The 50 Cent/Ja Rule beef is among Hip-Hop’s most legendary and is generally considered to be the catalyst for the latter’s career nosedive in the early 2000s. They’ve sniped at one another in the decades since, with the latest shot coming from Fif following Ja’s performance of “One of Us” at the 2023 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards in September.
Ja performed the song while tied to a wooden post that was carried on stage. Fif posted the video of Rule with the caption, “👀look at this s— head, is he supposed to be Jesus. 😆 WTF you can’t make this s—up. LOL so stupid!” Ja responded calling him a “troll” and “clown” in a Page Six interview. These men are both in their late 40s, y’all.
Body-shaming Madonna
Even we think this one is mean: 50, for some reason, has had the legendary pop singer in his crosshairs for years. The latest troll came in October, when he posted a side-by-side photo of Madonna performing on-stage with a cartoon insect. He captioned the post, “She’s rich how the hell she didn’t get it fixed 🤨I want the f—king doctors name right now. I mean damn it man ! LOL.”
He took the post down…presumably because Madonna’s army is (much) bigger than his army and they bombarded him with all the smoke. Not sure why he didn’t learn the first time around.
“Free Will Smith!”
Jada Pinkett Smith managed to aggravate the world during the press tour for her memoir “Worthy,” thanks in large part to claims that most folks had never heard before but were perfectly content if she’d left them in the drafts.
When Pinkett Smith made the claim that she sold drugs (as she’d done before), Fif posted a photo of Pinkett Smith with the comment “Alright enough is an enough FREE WILL SMITH! 👀 WTF is going on.” We’re not sure if Will needs to be “freed,” but I’d imagine quite a few people sided with Fif on the “enough is enough” train when it comes to Jada.
A pot shot at the president
We’d imagine Fif doesn’t do a ton of fact checking before he runs with a ball, as the October post he shared of President Joe Biden and wife Jill chilling at the beach with the headline suggesting that it was taken in the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict was misleading. He captioned it, “👀hey Joe get the fvck up, we in trouble man!”
Of course, right wingers ran with his post: Donald Trump Jr. was in Fif’s comments section talking trash and conservative commentators shared it. The post remains on his Instagram page, but with a missing context fact-check link at the bottom. Don’t give the idiots ammo, Fif!
Defending Bill Cosby
Earlier this year, America’s (former) Dad was on the receiving end of yet another lawsuit, this time by former Playboy Playmate Victoria Valentino, who claims he drugged and raped her in 1969. Fif posted a photo of the headline with the caption, “😆They are just doing Bill dirty, smh ain’t no way 54 years ago. Lmao this is just fvcked up Brody !”
Unfortunately, many people share the sentiment that more than a half-century is entirely too much lapsed time for anyone to be concerned about these allegations. But we dig the comment under his post: “These comments acting like rape has an expiration on it.”
