The inmates were unarmed at the time of their escape, but the parish's sheriff's office announced in a news release, "They should be considered dangerous, and extreme caution should be used if seen."

According to USA Today, Ethridge was imprisoned on one count of attempted second-degree murder and two counts of armed robbery, Elliot for illegal possession of stolen items and theft of a motor vehicle, and Mitchell for armed robbery with a weapon and attempted armed robbery.
