Police in Cobb County, Ga., have charged three suspects in the shooting death of James Jones Jr., a 21-year-old Clark Atlanta University junior, who was slain during an apparent robbery on Monday in Marietta, WSB-TV reports.
Jordan Baker, 18; Jonathan Myles, 19; and Kaylnn Ruthenberg, 21, were all charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery, the news station notes. Police have said that Jones was robbed and shot while he was responding to a Craigslist ad about the sale of an iPhone 6.
"As the victim approached Jamaica Cove and entered in to meet with the sellers for the iPhone, the suspects then robbed, shot and killed him right at the scene," Officer David Baldwin explained to the news station.
The university emailed students on Tuesday about Jones' death, noting that the junior, who majored in chemistry, had maintained a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
