The nominations for the 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards are in! Presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the awards ceremony will be celebrating its 46th iteration this year.
“The incredible level of talent and craft reflected in our nominees continues to show the growing impact of Daytime television and the incredible diversity of programming the viewing audience has to choose from,” said Executive Director, Daytime, Brent Stanton, per Variety. “With the help of some outstanding new additions to our staff, Rachel Schwartz and Lisa Armstrong, and the continued support of Luke Smith and Christine Chin, we have handled another record-breaking number of entries this year. Many thanks to our hundreds of great judges, who through their hard work and dedication, have come up with a stellar list of nominees that exemplify the best in daytime!”
The Digital Series category is super promising—Facebook Watch scored big with its highly successful Red Table Talk, hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Jones (lovingly known as “Gammy”) copping a nomination for Outstanding Informative Talk Show. Per Red Table Talk’s press release, the show will be bringing more than 20 all-new episodes starting this May.
Facebook Watch has two nominations total, with the second nomination being for Food Interrupted, a huge deal for the new digital network!
Also of note: James Bland’s digital series Giants landed in the top 5 most-nominated shows this year, with 11 noms, including Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series. Giants, which originally began as an independent webseries on YouTube, recently scored a deal with Cleo TV.
As far as networks, CBS is in the lead with 61 total. Right behind them are syndicated series (55), Amazon Prime Video (49), Netflix (49), and NBC (38).
