The Met Gala is the annual ball that kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Art's yearly Costume Institute exhibit. This year's tribute was to Charles James, America's First Couturier, and Monday night the stars came out in their best haute couture. Is it me, or does Carmelo Anthony look like he'd rather be watching the NBA playoffs? Just in case you're wondering, Lala Anthony is wearing a design by Cushnie et Ochs.
Solange Knowles debuted a new hairstyle for the night, along with a plunging neckline in this 3.1 Phillip Lim dress. Honestly, I wish she would have kept the ’fro and tried a more daring dress.
The newly engaged Gabrielle Union wore a Prada crop top and skirt, which was definitely daring with the feathers and Swavorski crystals.
So, you can't win them all. You can't always stunt on everyone in attendance. Lupita Nyong'o's first Met Gala attendance didn't have her in the most spectacular Prada outfit, but it definitely got people's attention.

Naomi Campbell proved that all she needed was a boa and some cutouts for her Givenchy number. She also proves that black doesn't crack.
Actress Joy Bryant was bohemian couture in a flowy blue dress, matched with long box braids. Although she kept it simple, it was a breath of fresh air in a sea of couture.
Supermodel Chanel Iman and her rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky took a vintage couture route with their ensemble. Chanel wore a Topshop gown, while A$AP Rocky wore vintage braids and a slim-fitting suit.
After announcing their joint tour last week, the Carters took the earnings from the ridiculously priced tickets and went shopping. Beyoncé wore a Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci custom gown while Jay Z also wore a Givenchy Haute Couture tuxedo. And what's a Beyoncé outfit without a bodysuit? The 32-year-old wore a matching bodysuit underneath with embroidered fishnet tights and crocodile leather sandals.
So there you have it, a bunch of celebrities paid $25,000 per ticket to attend an event where they were able to parade around each other in expensive clothes.
