Trump Bashes FBI and Doesn’t Impose Sanctions Against Russia—but He’s Racist, so Middle America Still Loves Him

On Friday, just hours before he’s expected to release a reportedly doctored memo condemning FBI practices, President Donald Trump again attacked the leadership of the FBI and the Justice Department because they don’t serve Russian interests and therefore don’t suit the president.

“The top Leadership and Investigators of the FBI and the Justice Department have politicized the sacred investigative process in favor of Democrats and against Republicans—something which would have been unthinkable just a short time ago,” Trump tweeted early Friday morning, Good Morning America reports.

The “Rank & File are great people,” Trump added, just one day after the union representing FBI agents issued a strong statement in support of FBI Director Christopher Wray, who, if rumors are to be believed, has threatened to step down if the president releases the confidential memo.

According to GMA, the memo “accuses the Justice Department of acting inappropriately when it sought a surveillance warrant in October 2016 for a former Trump campaign adviser suspected of being a Russian agent.”

The FBI refused to comment on Friday morning’s tweet because its agents are professionals and don’t want to engage in high school Twitter beef.

Trump reportedly went through the four-page memo Thursday and is expected to have the document released to the public sometime Friday. And, of course, he would, considering that the document was drafted by Trump lapdog Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) and it’s a Republican memo accusing the DOJ of political bias, which makes Trump look better and completely undermines the current investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia.

Also, earlier this week, Trump refused to impose sanctions approved by Congress against Russia for its obvious meddling in the 2016 presidential elections. Congress overwhelmingly approved the sanctions, one of the few bipartisan measures in this Republican-run Congress, but the president refused to sign the measure.

And this, my friends, is the magic of Trump: He has completely co-opted patriotism while completely selling out America, and none of his supporters bat an eyelash because to many of them he’s racist and stands against people of color, and what’s more American than that?
