18 Black Celebs Involved in the Cannabis Industry

These prominent Black celebrities have used their business acumen to make money in the marijuana world.

Laws restricting smoking marijuana are becoming more lax across the country. Even the NBA will allow players to smoke pot now. As a result, we’re seeing more Black celebs than ever invest in the cannabis industry

With 4/20 being the day that marijuana consumers smoke their favorite plant, here are the Black celebs investing in the cannabis world.

One of the most recognizable weed-smokers, Snoop Dogg, doesn’t just rap about the lifestyle he lives, he invests in it. Along with being the owner of Leafs by Snoop, the Long Beach MC also announced in December 2022 that Death Row Records has plans to launch its own cannabis brand.

Snoop Dogg’s protégé, Wiz Khalifa, is next in line for the title of premier weed smoker in hip-hop. More than a year ago, the Pittsburgh MC announced plans to expand his weed brand, Khalifa Kush, through a partnership with Cookies, a cannabis company founded by fellow rapper Berner.

Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu being involved in the cannabis industry is no surprise. In fact, I’m more shocked that it took her this long. In December 2022, the Texas singer shared her plans to release her own weed strain.

Jay-Z

Jay-Z always has his hands on anything that can make him money. If weed can do that, best believed he’ll be involved. In 2020, the Brooklyn-born MC launched his cannabis company, Monogram.

2 Chainz

2 Chainz has often experimented with marijuana, smoking the world’s most expensive blunt and eating the most expensive marijuana meal. But in February 2022, the Atlanta rapper opened the doors to his Los Angeles dispensary, Pineapple Express.

Along with being an investor in CitizenGrown, a company that pays people to grow weed in their backyard, the Wu-Tang Clan rapper also opened his cannabis lounge, Hashtoria, less than two months ago in New Jersey.

The Game

The Compton rapper is an avid weed smoker and often raps about it in his rhymes. It only made sense that he created his weed brand, Trees by Game, to promote the lifestyle he lives.

Method Man

All hip-hop fans know that Method Man is not new to the marijuana game. He starred in the classic cannabis film, How High, in 2001. But, less than a year ago he launched his weed brand, TICAL, which is named after his debut album.

Redman

Method Man’s co-star in How High and frequent collaborator Redman is also a huge figure in the marijuana world. In June 2022, the New Jersey rapper co-founded the National Cannabis Party, a political party fighting for the legalization of marijuana.

Ice Cube

We all knew Ice Cube was in love with Ganja as soon as we all laid eyes on the classic film, Friday. Two years ago, he capitalized off his wildly popular film, releasing his marijuana brand, Fryday Kush.

Master P

Way before it was in vogue, Master P created his line of cannabis products called Master Ps Trees in 2016. But, a year later in 2017, he sued the cannabis company he partnered with. Later in 2021, Master P re-entered the marijuana industry, launching the Limitless cannabis brand along with his family.

Juicy J

Juicy J and fellow members of Three 6 Mafia launched their Los Angeles-based weed company called Asterisk* in 2020. He made the announcement in the music video for his 2020 track, “GAH DAMN HIGH.”

Lil’ Kim

One of the most influential female MCs in hip-hop threw her hat into the marijuana game after introducing her cannabis brand, Aphrodisiac, in May 2022.

That’s right, two-time NBA champion and basketball Hall of Famer is deep in the marijuana business. He currently serves as the CEO of One World Pharma, a company that cultivates the plant in Colombia.

Stephen Jackson

Although he hasn’t invested in the cannabis industry or created his strain of weed, former NBA player Stephen Jackson has made a career out of his love for marijuana. In 2020, he started the podcast, All the Smoke, along with his former teammate Matt Barnes where they often smoke on episodes and discuss the memories they had smoking while in the NBA.

Al Harrington

After 16 years in the NBA, Al Harrington launched his cannabis empire, Viola Brands, which is named after his dead grandmother. He named it after her because while she was alive she had diabetes and glaucoma and found that cannabis relieved pain near the end of her life.

Whoopi Goldberg

The legendary EGOT winner has been advocating for marijuana use for as long as I can remember. In 2022, she shared plans to start her cannabis product line but has yet to unveil a name.

Jaleel White

That’s right, Steve Urkel likes marijuana. In April 2021, Jaleel White launched his cannabis brand Purple Urkle in partnership with 710 labs.
