Oh, the Shade! Obama Says US Experiencing ‘Temporary Absence of Leadership’

He might not always be there when we call, but Barack Obama is always on time. Though many have looked to Obama to comment on this debacle of a Trump presidency, the former president has in general refrained from commenting on his successor … except on Monday, when he spoke in Seoul, South Korea.

Obama, an architect of the Paris climate agreement, which Trump pulled out of, was quite clear on how he views both the environmental accord as well as the current president.

“The Paris agreement, even with the temporary absence of U.S. leadership, will still be a critical factor in helping our children solve the enormous challenge in civilization,” Obama said at a conference organized by South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo media group, according to CNN.

Trump withdrew from the Paris agreement in June and then said last month that he was open to renegotiating aspects of the agreement.

Obama also met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in after the speech to discuss the future relationship between the U.S. and Asia.
