FBI Director James Comey came for the president with all the receipts his office carries, noting that there was “no information to support” President Donald TrumPutin’s outlandish claim that former President Barack Obama tapped his office during the 2016 election.
Appearing before the House Intelligence Committee alongside National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers, both men confirmed for the first time publicly that the FBI is investigating Russia’s involvement with the 2016 presidential election and President TrumPutin’s and his associates’ connections to Russia.
“We’re investigating whether there was any coordination between people associated with the Trump campaign and the Russians,” Comey said, according to USA Today. Comey declined to elaborate further, noting that he wouldn’t be speaking about an ongoing investigation. He did note that he believes there was a third party involved in the hack of the Democratic National Committee’s email.
Comey and Rogers also stated that there was no evidence that Russia interfered with actual votes during the 2016 election.
TrumPutin has not commented since news of Comey’s testimony broke, but as late as Friday, the president has continued to perpetuate the lie that former President Obama tapped his office at Trump Tower.
Because it’s hard to say that the president is a lying-ass liar, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) had to add Monday: “Let me be clear, we know there was not a wiretap on Trump Tower. However, it’s still possible that other surveillance activities were used against President Trump and his associates.”
Clearly the walls are closing in around the lies, but don’t expect anyone in TrumPutin’s White House to admit it. Today, as glorious as it was, was a whole lot of nothing, because there are two groups of us when it comes to this president and his administration: those who don’t believe anything they say or do, and those who believe everything they say or do.
