President Vladmir TrumPutin doubled down on his Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday because he is in bed with the Russians too, claiming that Sessions, who never admitted to meeting with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.—twice—during the 2016 presidential campaign did nothing wrong.

“Jeff Sessions is an honest man. He did not say anything wrong. He could have stated his response more accurately, but it was clearly not intentional,” Trump said, CNN reports.

“This whole narrative is a way of saving face for Democrats losing an election that everyone thought they were supposed to win,” he said. “The Democrats are overplaying their hand. They lost the election, and now they have lost their grip on reality. The real story is all of the illegal leaks of classified and other information. It is a total witch hunt!”

Also on Thursday, Sessions recused himself from any investigations into Russia’s involvement into Trump’s presidential campaign. Many Democrats and some GOP members have called for Sessions to resign as attorney general for failing to disclose under oath that he met twice with Sergey Kislyak, Russia’s ambassador to the U.S.

Despite Sessions’ untruths during a Senate committee hearing in which he was asked about ongoing reports that Russia was involved in some shady politics, President TrumPutin told reporters aboard an aircraft carrier in Virginia that he had “total” confidence in Sessions. Asked if Sessions should recuse himself, the president said, “I don’t think so,” CNN reports.

White House spokesman Sean “Spicy Facts” Spicer as usual told the press that this is much ado about nothing, because having a lying attorney general really isn’t unexpected when you have a lying president.

Meanwhile, the press secretary dismissed the day of controversy arising from news of the meetings between Sessions and Kislyak as a “partisan thing that we’ve seen over and over again.”

“This continues to be a question of, there’s no there there,” Spicy Facts said.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters Thursday that she believes there is a there there.

“[That] the top cop in our country lied under oath to the people is grounds for him to resign,” Pelosi said. “He has proved that he is unqualified and unfit to serve in that position of trust.”

Also, never forget that Jeff Sessions hates marijuana.
