The Atlanta Police Department has released surveillance footage showing the moment three men allegedly opened fire on an 11-year-old boy on Jan. 14 in Atlanta, according to WSB-TV. Investigating authorities revealed that their hope is to catch the perpetrators by making the video of the incident public.

The boy seen in the video was allegedly hit twice, and authorities found him conscious with multiple gunshot wounds. The boy was taken to a Children’s Hospital where his condition is unknown, but his mother allegedly told a WSB-TV reporter that he is improving.

In the nearly minute-long clip, the boy can be seen sprinting through a parking lot, looking over his shoulder and attempting to hide from his assailants. The video then cuts to three unidentified men walking across the sidewalk then crossing the street before breaking out into a sprint.

As they reach the parking lot, the three men seemed to have saw the boy and began to run toward him. Each of the three men can be seen pulling out guns and firing multiple shots at the boy as he runs for his life.

The three men then run back across the street, fleeing the scene. The suspects are described as “three Black men” who were each wearing Black coats, black pants, and white shoes.

Investigating police still don’t know what led to the chase, but neighbors in the area spoke out to WSB-TV about the area’s increasing violence.

“It’s wrong for what happened, but there’s nothing I can do,” said one neighbor, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

“I’m going to have to pray for him,” said another neighbor. “I’m going to have to pray for him.”
