Is a little boy getting a tattoo really that much worse than a little girl getting her ears pierced? Yes, it is, according to the authorities who arrested Georgia mom Chuntera Napier and charged her with misdemeanor cruelty. She says she couldn't say no when her 10-year-old son, Gaquan, asked to get one, according to ABC News' Atlanta affiliate, WSBTV.
Napier insists that she didn't know about the 2010 law, which makes it "unlawful for any person to tattoo the body of any person under the age of 18, except for a physician or osteopath … ," when she took her son to get the ink, featuring the name and former basketball-jersey number of his deceased brother, who was killed by a teenage driver.
As his mom put it, "It's not like he wanted Sponge Bob."
