Protests are personal. There are some of us who’ve elected to turn the station on NFL Sundays. There are some of us who kneel while watching the entire game. Some of us are willing to watch with only one eye open, while the other eye is reading Frantz Fanon’s The Wretched of the Earth.

And then there are some of us who are willing to do the Lord’s work.

The shady part of all of American history is that behind every movement for justice is an unnamed black woman, and make no mistake about it: The Movement for Black Lives protest within the NFL just took its first casualty thanks to a black woman.

I don’t know who this woman is—in fact, I’m not even sure that this is a real, live account with a real, live name behind it—but this is what happened, and I warn you that it’s messy and, as such, important.

Nige not only posted photos to Twitter but also posted video to her Facebook page showing the coach boasting that he was doing lines of the powdery substance before heading to a meeting.

“We were made aware of the video late last night and have no tolerance for this behavior,” the Dolphins said in the statement. “After speaking with Chris this morning, he accepted full responsibility and we accepted his resignation effective immediately. Although Chris is no longer with the organization, we will work with him to get the help he needs during this time.”

Nige won’t get the credit that she deserves, but we at The Root are here for you, sis. Also, there was this video depicting Foerster before said meeting, also for the culture.

But, I know, let’s talk about the flag and kneeling and black protest and stuff ...
