It's amazing that more than two months after Michael Brown was shot and killed in Ferguson, Mo., no arrests have been made and no trial has been set. That hasn't stopped the protests and outcries of injustice, but there are those on social media who can't understand why people are still protesting in Ferguson. Typically those people have been white conservatives who want to sweep the police-brutality issues that plague black communities under the rug.
When Brown was killed, there were riots. Those riots were no different from riots back in the day when black people got fed up with the injustice handed to them by the same people who were supposed to protect them.
When black people riot, it's because of injustice—and that isn't condoning the rioting that leaves black communities in shambles.
But let's look at events this past weekend in two white communities. Yes, there were riots. No, they were not rioting about injustice. I'm quite sure that some of those who rioted don't even care about the death of black men at the hands of police.
What were these white people rioting over?
Pumpkins and football. I kid you not.
Over the weekend in Keene, N.H., police had to pull out the tear gas and pepper spray during the annual Pumpkin Festival.
"I am saddened and disheartened at the events surrounding this year's Keene Pumpkin Festival," said Keene State College President Anne Huot. "Despite the concerted efforts of organizers, city officials, police and Keene State College, there continued to be disruptive behavior at parties in multiple locations around the city, injuries and property damage."
What the f—k, white people?
Are you that uncivilized that you destroy your own communities, all in the name of the Great Pumpkin Caper?

And then there's this dude Steven French, 18, who described the scene as "wicked."
"It's just like a rush. You're revolting from the cops," he told Sentinel Source. "It's a blast to do things that you're not supposed to do."
Let me rephrase that: "It's a blast to do things you're not supposed to do and live to tell the tale."
Those on social media flipped the script when it came to mocking the out-of-control white populace that ravaged the pumpkin festivities.

And that's just the weekend events in Keene. Let's take a look at what went on in Morgantown, W.Va.
Yes, there was more rioting.
As a cousin of someone who attends West Virginia University, I didn't exactly understand the following tweet he posted Saturday evening:

I thought to myself, are they joining in protests over police brutality? Are they showing solidarity with those in Ferguson? Well, of course not. These ingrates were rioting over football.
The Morgantown police stated that Mountaineer fans took to the streets, burned couches, pulled down light poles and caused thousands of dollars in damage. The police had to use tear gas to subdue the hostile crowd.
The white thugs lived to tell the tale, though. Don't get me wrong; I'm not mad that the police didn't riddle white thugs' bodies with bullets, because no one deserves to die, but let this be a lesson to the world: White-thug mob mentality does exist.
While black people are protesting the senseless deaths of unarmed black men, white thugs are ravaging the streets because of pumpkins and football.
Black people, the next time a white person wants to talk about why black people are protesting and rioting, make sure you remind that individual of Keene, N.H., and Morgantown, W.Va. When we riot and protest, we do it for a reason. When white people riot and protest, they do it for s—ts and giggles in the name of pumpkins and football. God bless their weary souls.
