Spelman College will be convening a task force to provide recommendations on whether it will be accepting transgender women, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
President Mary Schmidt Campbell included the announcement in a welcome-back letter to students at the all-women HBCU.
"Ingrid Hayes, vice president for Enrollment Management will convene a task force that makes a recommendation to the president on the admission and enrollment of transgender students," the note read in part.
As AJC notes, Spelman is but the latest of the prestigious women's colleges to deliberate on admitting trans students. All of the U.S. women's colleges dubbed the Seven Sisters have already included policy to accept trans women into those schools.
Spelman's task force on trans students is one of two that are being created to review campus policy. The other task force on emergency planning will be working to "develop a set of protocols and procedures for students, faculty and staff to follow in the event of an emergency."
Reports from both groups are expected by the end of the academic year.
